“The Infection of Deception”
Have you ever experienced a small cut that you left unattended?
While the initial cut seemed harmless and insignificant, the result of leaving the wound unattended is that it became infected, causing pain in the body. The situation can eventually produce more serious consequences, if it is not dealt with.
In like manner, error in the body of Christ may appear insignificant, but left unattended, will work like an infection. Galatians 5:9 teaches that a little leaven or infectious error, leavens or infects the whole lump, or entire body. Wow!
I say this to contrast the mentality that masquerades as love by refusing to take a stand against error. The good news of contending for the faith by taking a stand against error, is that those under your sphere of influence will experience a protection from the “infection of deception.” (Jude 1:3, 4; Acts 20:26-32)
