1 Corinthians 15:34 states: “Awake to righteousness and do not sin…”
The key for a believer when it comes to dominion over sin is to awake to the righteousness that they have in Christ. The verse before this (v.33) says: “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits,” (NKJ) The Greek word for “company” is “homilia.” It is defined as; “converse, or talk.” It is where we get our English word for “homiletic.” Homiletic is defined as follows: “pertaining to the art of preaching.” We also get our word “homily” from this word which means “a discourse” Any preaching that points a Christian to their personal performance rather than their righteousness in Christ is evil company. Wow! Take heed what you hear (see Mark 4:24).
Truly, if we knew better; we’d do better. What we know is directly related to what we hear. You are blessed!
