“Overcoming the Temptation to Quit.”
It has been said that, “quitting is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.” 1 John 5:4 declares that “the victory which overcomes the world is our faith.” (Note: faith in Christ, not self) Jude 1:20 says we “build ourselves up on our most holy faith when we pray in the Holy Ghost.”
I stand amazed at how zealous and excited I am about the Lord after more than 32 years as a Christian, which includes pastoring. When I consider all the let downs I have experienced with people, etc., my disposition is truly supernatural.
I praise God for this and base it upon two primary tools He has equipped me with.
(1) An ever increasing understanding of His grace and that my standing with God is based upon, and CONTINUES to be based upon HIS work as opposed to my works. (Galatians 3:3; Colossians 2:6)
(2) My commitment to the baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire, which manifests itself through praying much with the stammering lips and another tongue that Isaiah prophesied of. (Isaiah 28:11, 12)
Note: You do not have to be shut away somewhere to avail yourself of this prayer, but can participate throughout your daily activities.
Conclusion: While I have not arrived, and cannot say I am never tempted to quit, in the words of AW, “I have left.”
You are free to disagree with the above points, but remember, “It’s my story and I’m sticking with it.”
