“And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you. (John 16:23)
In what day? The day of the new creation in which you and I live. This is Jesus speaking of the day in which His redemptive work would be complete and Son-ship would be made available to all who would receive Him. It is almost as if He is commanding us to not ask Him, but to go to the Father in His name.
I believe that the reason for this is because of the new birth. Now the Father is able to treat us just like Jesus because He has made us His sons. Wow! Think about it. Those who have received Christ have literally been placed in Jesus. The Father views us just as He views Jesus. (John 17:23; 1 John 4:17) If that don’t light your fire, your wood’s wet. Wow, again!
