The apostle Paul was concerned that in the same subtle manner that the serpent beguiled or deceived Eve, we also could be led astray (see 2 Cor. 11:3). This brings us to the question: “how was Eve deceived?” God created Adam and Eve in the image of God (see Gen. 1:27). Simply put, they were created like God. In chapter three the serpent convinces them to disobey God, by telling them to do something to be like God. In other words: “if you will do, you will be, what you already are.” This is the same misleading that often masquarades as solid bible doctrine today. If the believer will do, they will be what they already are in Christ. You ARE the righteousness of God in Him (see 2 Cor. 5:21). WOW!
