“How the Enemy Sows Tares among the Wheat”
“But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.” (Matthew 13:25)
We know that the enemy is the devil, the tares are the children of the wicked one, or you could say, deceivers and the deception they bring, and of course, the wheat being the children of God.(see verses 37-42)
Note: tares are sown among the wheat (i.e. God’s children), while men (i.e. believers) SLEEP!
The Greek defines the word for “slept” in the above verse as: “to fall asleep, to yield to sloth and sin, or to be indifferent, or apathetic to one’s salvation.” Wow!
When Christians are indifferent or apathetic to what they have received in Christ, the enemy is able to sow tares in their midst. (Another Wow!)
So, wake up or awake to your righteousness in Christ, and you’ll experience a protection from the deception of the adversary’s attempts, to sow tares among the wheat. (See 1 Corinthians 15:34)
