“The Fight For Balance and The New Mixture”
I believe the good fight of faith spoken of in 1st Timothy 6:12 is a fight for a biblically balanced faith. In other words, a faith that is more than a mere mental acknowledgement of grace, but a faith that receives and takes what God has freely supplied by grace. Jude expressed his desire to write of the common salvation, and then saw the need to warn believers to earnestly contend for the faith. (Jude 1:3)
This earnest contention for the faith is directly connected to perverted understandings and teachings of grace.(Jude 1:4) Wow! Does that sound familiar?
Living in the balance of Grace and Faith is the essence of contending for the faith.
(see Ephesians 2:8) It is just as much mixture to take one’s corresponding action out of faith as it is to mix dead works into faith. (see James 2:17)
It is a false balance that God hates, NOT balance. (Proverbs 11:1)
Beware of the new (neo) mixture that subtly removes biblical faith from God’s amazing grace. He that hath ears, let him hear.
