“Do YOU HAVE Boldness In The Day Of Judgement?”
“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgement; because as He is, so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:17 NKJV)
Wait a minute, if this is referring to the future judgement, It should read, “and you will have boldness in the day of judgement in the next world.” The phrase “we may have” is one Greek word and it is in the continuous present tense as opposed to the future tense. This verb is also in the subjunctive mood which means that it is a possibility which is contingent upon something. The boldness that we are to have in this world is predicated upon His love being perfected in us, or His love being complete, settled and mature in our understanding. Wow!
This boldness is a result of understanding that as He is right now, so are we right now, in this world. (see 1 Corinthians 6:17) Repeat Wow! I believe that the day of judgement being referred to in this verse is a judgement that is upon this world system. (see John 3:36; 1 Corinthians 11:30-32)
A believer who knows their position in Christ and understands that Jesus has been judged in their place for things such as, sickness, poverty, anxiety, etc. can boldly proclaim His promises in the day the judgement which is upon this world knocks upon their door. (Isaiah 53:5; 2 Corinthians 8:9; John 14:27) The results of this mature love revelation continues in verse 18 by casting out fear and it’s accompanying torment. No wonder Paul prayed that believers would comprehend the love of Christ FOR THEM, which far surpasses finite human knowledge. (see Ephesians 3:14-21) (Shout and feel free to repeat the shout. Psalms 47:1)
