“Where Or Who Are You Looking Unto?”
“Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith…” (Hebrews 12:2 a)
The Greek language of the New Testament defines “Looking” as follows: “to turn the eyes away from other things and fix them on something.” (Thayer’s) This verb is in the Greek “present tense” which means that our looking away from distractions, and unto Jesus, is to be a continuous, ongoing action.
Man’s religion is a master at teaching believers to look unto their praying, their Bible study, etc., rather than using their praying, and their Bible study, etc. as vehicles to look unto Jesus.
The Lord recently quickened this to me by saying it as follows: “Don’t look too your praying, study, etc., as something you do, but rather use your praying, study, etc. as tools, to see what I have done on your behalf.”
Wow! I feel like shouting unto God with the voice of triumph! (Psalm 47:1; 2 Corinthians 2:14)
